Dr. Elliot Berlin, DC

Since his early days of Chiropractic ten years ago, Dr. Berlin has established himself as an innovative out-of-the-box thinker seeking and discovering natural solutions for some of the most difficult and mystifying ailments that people suffer with.  His persistent exploration has led him to focus on symptoms caused by the body’s natural response to internal stress.  In developing techniques to reverse the harmful effects of this nerve tension, he has successfully helped hundreds of people overcome the most difficult cases of female infertility, migraine headache, chronic fatigue, chronic neck or back pain, irritable bowel, panic attacks, insomnia, and fibromyalgia.  The success of his alternative infertility program led to the need for a comprehensive prenatal and postpartum care program.  He has become so specialized in prenatal wellness care that upwards of 80% of his patients are now pre or postnatal.  Dr. Berlin is a member of the American Pregnancy Association, Hollistic Pediatric Association, International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, Doulas Association of Southern California, California Association of Midwives, American Chiropractic Association, and California Chiropractic Association.

Dr. Alyssa Berlin, Psy.D

Prior to joining the Berlin Wellness Group, Dr. Alyssa Berlin enjoyed the opportunity to practice psychotherapy and teach throughout the country.  Her comprehensive expertise working with all members of the family unit led her to focus on the earliest stages of family development with the goal of taking early action to mitigate future problems.  Dr. Berlin recognized that when a couple is provided with prenatal and postpartum support tools and resources, they are better able to strengthen their bond and ready their relationship for cooperative parenting.  This yields both short term and long lasting benefit for both the marriage and the lifelong relationship with their children.

One of the most pronounced benefits of the newly solidified relationship and spousal connection is the prevention or minimization of postpartum depression; a disorder that may mitigate your ability to bond with your new baby.  Counseling is available to the individual or couple, and Dr. Berlin, a Gottman Certified Educator co-facilitates the ‘Bringing Home Baby’ workshop for new and expectant parents. 

Dr. Kirsten Shepard, DC

Dr. Shepard has been practicing wellness since she graduated from Lauterstein-Conway Massage School in Austin, Texasin 1997.  After working in a variety of settings including day spas and multidisciplinary practices, Dr. Shepard continued her holistic training obtaining a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Parker College in Dallas, Texas after which she relocated to Los Angeles.

Dr. Shepard has experience working on patients of all ages, and specializes in caring for children and seniors for health maintenance and for a variety of conditions including recurring or chronic diseases such as ear infections, infantile colic, ADD/ADHD, bipolar disorder, fibromyalgia, arthritis and lupus.  Dr. Shepard is currently pursuing her post-doctorate degree in Chiropractic Pediatric.  She is an active member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, Hollistic Pediatric Association, and  and the American Chiropractic Association and is certified with Backpack Safety America.

Jason Starr, L.Ac.

Jason is a licensed acupuncturist and herbologist who has been a physician at this practice for several years.   He received his BS in Environmental Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, before receiving his MS in Oriental Medicine from Emperor’s College in Santa Monica, CA. He has received extensive training in Pre natal care, Fertility, Gynecology, and pain management.  Jason has helped many expectant mothers with a vast array of discomforts throughout their pregnancy.  He specializes in helping his prenatal patients have the easiest and most natural possible birth.  Jason is committed to integrating all disciplines of medicine to better benefit the patient's health. He uses traditional Chinese medicine to correct imbalances within the body, while much of his treatment focuses on overall wellness and stress relief. He places a great importance on educating his patients about the process of acupuncture and the benefits of herbal remedies, and he offers advice regarding diet and exercise in order to quicken recovery time and to improve general health. With over five years of experience, Jason’s treatment combines knowledge, logic, intuition and skill.

Lalanya Gawne

Lalanya came to Berlin Chiropractic at the end of her schooling over a year ago in order to learn the art and science of prenatal, postpartum and pediatric chiropractic care directly from Dr. Berlin and Dr. Shepard.  She finished her Chiropractic education at the Southern California University of Health Sciences third in her class with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree.  Lalanya's diverse experiences during her education include providing Chiropractic care to participants in the Avon Breast Cancer walk, indigent residents of Tiujuana, Mexico, brain-injured children and adults at Help for Brain Injured Children,  homeless Angelenos through the Los Angeles Dream Center, students and staff at California State University at Los Angeles, and to patients at the U.S. Veterans Administration Hospital in Northridge.  Lalanya is currently a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, and Student American Chiropractic Association and is also certified in the Webster Technique.  Lalanya has become a full time member of our team and is seeing patients five days a week.
